Strict Selection and Testing of Linguists

Our process for recruiting linguists is unique with regards to the strict and rigorous conditions that translators must meet in order to access our testing stage. Our tests are also unique in their level of granularity and specificity. In the area of life sciences, for example, we would focus our tests not on life sciences only as a subject, but rather on clinical trial protocols, or adverse effects, or informed consent forms, depending on the specific background of the linguist. Likewise, in legal translation, we do not test for 'legal' knowledge, but rather for knowledge of contracts, articles of incorporation, court papers, terms and conditions, etc.

This enables us to select the right translator for every job, someone with proven experience who has been tested on the specific type of content involved in a particular translation.

The Best Team for the Job, in a Customised Workflow

The translation process itself is embedded in a workflow in which we ‘pre-flight’ projects and ensure your deliverables are in the right format and layout. In the pre-flight phase, we establish exactly what is needed for a particular job. In consultation with the client, we may decide to create a client-specific or project-specific glossary and/or a brand style guide, in order to align the translation process as much as possible with the client’s needs and expectations.

The translations themselves are produced by a team of two or three linguists, depending on your choice of service: a translator, a proofreader and optionally a third linguist who performs an additional quality management step., All three linguists are native speakers of the target language.  The best linguistic team is selected from our extensive network of over 6,000 thoroughly tested professional translators, based on subject expertise and ongoing evaluations.

Professional Issue Resolution

Overtaal has a quality assurance department, which is independent of the production units. This ensures prompt solutions and objective feedback when faced with any quality feedback from your side, ensuring swift investigations, prompt and accurate response, and effective action plans to ensure that your expectations with regards to quality and service are always exceeded.
