01.07.2009 Taalunie presents official spelling in the Netherlands Antilles and Surinam
In Willemstad, the capital of the Netherlands Antilles, the Ministry of Education and Culture started distributing a brochure on the official Dutch spelling this week. Since the end of last year, the new spelling is compulsory for the government and educational sector in the Netherlands Antilles. The ‘Gouden Boekje’ (‘golden book’), a list of official spellings in Papiamento was also presented at the same time. This means both of the two major official languages now have official spelling systems. To read the entire article in Dutch, click here.
