18.12.2009 Overtaal translates e-Justice-portal for European Commission

In the months of November and December 2009, Overtaal translated the new e-Justice Portal for the European Commission from English into Dutch. Designed to provide practical information for those dealing with the national legal system of another Member State and unfamiliar with how it works, the e‑Justice Portal for each Member State presents information on, for instance, how to find a lawyer or mediator, the costs of legal proceedings, etc.

Despite the tight deadlines, Overtaal was able to successfully complete this massive project. The European Commission was extremely positive in its assessment of the quality of the translations.

For this challenging translation project, Overtaal deployed a core team of three EU translators, who were supported by a network of external legal translators. Each individual text required a different approach due precisely to the highly specific legal content and the broad range of topics addressed.

With the successful completion of this formidable assignment, Overtaal has again demonstrated that it can deliver a substantial volume of translations of exceedingly high quality while meeting demanding deadlines.
