25.09.2008 Day of Languages 2008
This Friday, 26 September, the annual European Day of Languages is going to be celebrated again. Throughout Europe activities will be organised to make people aware of the importance of language education. In addition, the rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe (over 200 different languages are spoken in Europe) will be brought into the limelight and the “lifelong learning” programme will be promoted.
The first Day of Languages was held in 2001, the European Year of Languages. Since then, extra attention is given each year on 26 September to languages and linguistic diversity. The European Platform organises a conference, including lectures and workshops, on how to speak more in the language classroom. For more information, click here.
