03.08.06 Overtaal concludes translation contracts with the Court of Justice of the European Communities

The Court of Justice in Luxembourg is the judicial body of the European Union. The Court consists of three legal departments: the Court of Justice, the Court of First Instance and the Civil Service Tribunal. The Court's most important task is to ensure the the observance and application of the European Union's legislation and founding treaties.

The Court's translation department currently consists of around 800 translators, most of whom have completed a legal education. Roughly 20% of the translation work is outsourced to freelance translators and translation agencies.

Following a recent tender procedure, Overtaal has concluded contracts with the Court for the translation of legal texts from French and English into Dutch. To manage this new work, we have set up a translation team consisting of in-house and freelance translators. In addition to language studies, all translators in the team have also completed studies in law or legal translation courses.
