Sworn translations
Some types of official documents (e.g. contracts, deeds, extracts, diplomas, etc.) require sworn translations. In this case, 'sworn' simply means that the translation is prepared by a translator who has been sworn in by a court. However, it is not a guarantee of quality!
Overtaal provides sworn translations in a wide range of languages. In some cases a sworn translation alone is not enough, and legalisation or an apostille is also required. Our project managers will be happy to advise you on the various options in relation to sworn translations.

An apostille authenticates the signature of a sworn translator and is valid in countries that ratified the 1961 Hague Convention. In all other countries, the considerably more complicated legalisation procedure applies. We regularly attend to the legalisation of documents for our customers, for example, diplomas of employees being seconded to the United Arab Emirates for a dredging project. The translations must pass through the district court, various ministries and the consulate before being eligible for legalisation.
