Team Lead Exchange in Berlin
Earlier this year, the Life Sciences teams in the Overtaal Berlin office have successfully tried out a new way of manager training: “Team Lead Exchange”.
Travelling to other locations of the company is always valuable and enriching. An opportunity to work with another team, even if only for a couple of weeks, is always a great contribution to one’s professional development.
However, sometimes there aren’t any travel opportunities. So the Berlin team created their own setup to experience working with another team without having to travel to another office: the team leads of the two Life Sciences teams switched their daily tasks of projects distribution and supporting the team with process-related guidance. As both teams work mainly on Life Sciences projects, most of their processes are very similar, but because they work with different sales people, different clients, different project types and obviously different PMs, there also are differences in approach and style.
In addition, the exchange also gave the Team Leads the opportunity to get a bit closer to the colleagues they had previously simply known from another team, but with whom they had never had a chance to work closely. For junior managers this opportunity to hone their abilities in a different setup proved to be a refreshing and valuable experience.
Our Team Lead Exchange turned out to be a great and mutually beneficial experience!
TransPerfect Mountain Challenge
On Saturday 27 October, a select group of Overtaal staff will join in the TransPerfect Mountain Challenge, raising money for the Barcelona-based children’s cancer charity AFANOC. The Challenge consists of an orienteering race in the Serra del Catllaràs, a mountain range in the Spanish Pre-Pyrenees.
There will be four level of challenge, the easiest orienteering level being suitable for groups with kids and requiring an estimated 3 hours, and the toughest aimed at runners with quite a bit of stamina who will need about 6 hours. In addition, there will be a marathon on a route with around 1,500 m elevation gain.
The money raised will be donated in full to the charity. AFANOC provides support for kids receiving cancer treatment and their families, including a pleasant place to stay while they are away from home for the treatment. They are a small organization making a big difference. Click on this link for more information on the event or if you want to make a donation.
